Calligraphy for Print

! Welcome to the Current Issue of the LinoLetter ! Subscribe Unsubscribe

Introduction:

Through the Calligraphy for Print 1–2 collections, Linotypeis re-presenting a treasure chest of excellent calligraphic typefaces. Additionally this month, we would like to invite you to check out our new Font Finder tool, “Font Inspirations.” With this feature, you can intuitively search for the right typeface. Our newest Font Feature presents a series of various designs from the first decades of the 20th Century, all created by the influential artist/designer Lucian Bernhard. Finally, we are pleased to offer you the virtual chance to defeat the nefarious knock-off clone of our Helvetica typeface, Arial, in the ultimate Internet type game: Helvetica vs. Arial.

Have fonts of fun!
Calligraphy for Print 1-2
Graceful and flowing forms are what lend calligraphic script-based fonts their elegance and energy. These fonts are ideal for traditional-looking or refined applications, such as formal invitations or tastefully designed letterhead. Linotype is pleased to present you the following two collections: "Calligraphy for Print 1 and 2." These collections are made up of the perfect selection of elegant, modern, and extraordinary calligraphic-based typefaces.
Font Inspirations
In our newest Font Finder tool, “Fonts by Inspiration,” we present our favorite, theme-inspired typefaces (from classic to cool). The selected typefaces have been chosen for their level of quality and suitability in a number of various categories. This extraordinarily visual presentation will inspire you to create inspired, yet-unknown designs with our typefaces.
Bernhard Fonts
Take a trip back in time and view the typographic work of the renowned German/American designer Lucian Bernhard; view these four typefaces created by him from the years 1912–1937.
Bernhard Condensed Bold, from 1912, is the only weight of the Bernhard Antiqua type family currently available in digital form. This is a design with marked historical influences. Bernhard Fashion, from 1929, bespeaks the spirit of the roaring 20s. This typeface is best used sparingly as fashion-related ornamentation in text. Bernhard Modern, from 1937, has a low x-height and generous ascenders, like many other stylish typefaces of its time. Bernhard Modern displays a mannered elegance that is best-used in short and middle length texts or headlines – wherever a subtle touch of tradition is desired. The fourth Bernhard face lies closest to our hearts: Bernhard Shoenschrift is a script-like typeface that was designed to mimic the fine handwriting styles that where popular during the 1920s.
Helvetica vs. Arial
Everyone needs to have a little bit of fun; we have ours playing this game. You too can take the role of Helvetica, as the heroic typeface fights to defeat the evil knock-off clone, Arial!
